Fellmonger = dealer in animal hides or skins, especially
sheepskins, who prepared the skins for sale. Skinned pelts were trimmed,
washed, dipped in lime pits, and then the hair, fur, or skin-wool (distinct from shorn
fleece-wool) were removed. At the tannery they were often split into three
parts: parchment, leather; chamois leather.
